Poolesville Green is an independent, nonpartisan, educational 501(c)(3) organization with three volunteer staff members, an independent Board of Directors composed of residents from Poolesville, Barnesville, Dickerson and North Potomac, and a Board of Advisors from throughout Montgomery County.
Our work focuses on promoting alternative energy sources, encouraging the conservation of energy and water, and on raising awareness about existing hazardous and non-hazardous waste recycling programs.
We build on what is best about our small town communities by:
- Providing forums for residents to share ideas and information
- Connecting residents and businesses with each other and with government programs and resources
- Sponsoring environmental education outreach, workshops and show casing sustainable practices
- Working to improve the quality of life and business opportunities in the community
Our formation was inspired in large part by the work of Bethesda Green, which provides a local model for sustainable living in Bethesda, Maryland. We appreciate their guidance to us as we formed Poolesville Green.
